Don't Clone the App — Out-Build It
The fastest way to find something worth building isn't brainstorming. It's reading what people already hate about the products they use. Every category has a pile of one-star reviews describing, in the customers' own words, exactly what's missing.
The move isn't to copy the incumbent. It's to fix what its users keep complaining about.
Mine What Users Already Hate
Point Claude at the public reviews across an entire category — App Store, Play Store, Reddit, G2, Trustpilot — and ask it to cluster the recurring pain: missing features, dealbreaker bugs, pricing gripes, confusing UX. What comes back is a ranked list of unmet needs. "No offline mode" at the top, "too expensive" second, "clunky export" third. Real demand, quantified, before you've written a line.
Build Something Original
Take the top gaps, turn them into a spec, and build your own product around them — your design, your code, your brand. Not a copy of the market leader, but a better answer to the same problem.
That last step is where Greta.sh fits: it turns the spec into a shipped full-stack app — backend, database, payments and deploy — from a prompt.
The Line Not to Cross
Study competitors for what to fix, not for what to take. Their code, interface and brand are theirs. The value here is in the gap they've left, and an original product that fills it is both the more defensible and the more honest thing to ship.
