Best Field Service Management Software in 2026: 8 Tools Compared
ByHiteshi SoniΒ· Marketer, Questera

For most small trades and home service businesses, the best field service management software is Jobber or Housecall Pro: both publish their prices, both start under $60 a month (billed annually, one user), and both cover booking, scheduling, dispatch, quotes, invoicing and payments in one product. ServiceM8 is the cheapest way in, with a free plan for one user and 30 jobs a month and paid plans priced by job volume instead of by user. ServiceTitan, FieldEdge and Workiz suit bigger contractors and quote after a demo. Service Fusion publishes flat prices with unlimited users, and companies already on Salesforce look at Salesforce Field Service.

Field service software runs one loop: a customer calls, the job gets booked and dispatched, the technician does or quotes the work, and an invoice gets paid. Every product below handles that loop; they differ in how they charge (per user, per technician, per job or flat) and whether they show a price before a sales call.

How we compared

We checked job-loop coverage, how pricing scales with technicians, office staff or jobs, whether prices are published, and which accounting tools each plan syncs with. Prices were checked on each vendor's own pricing page on October 4, 2026, and are stated as of October 2026 in US dollars with the billing basis each vendor gives. This compares what vendors publish, not a hands-on trial; recheck prices before you budget.

The 8 best field service management software tools

1. Jobber – best all-round pick for small home service businesses

Jobber serves home service pros from cleaning to HVAC, and it's the easiest product here to price without a sales call. With team size set to one user, the Jobber pricing page lists Core at $29 a month billed annually ($49 monthly), Connect at $99 ($139) and Grow at $149 ($199), in USD excluding sales tax.

Core covers online booking, quotes, invoices with online payments, a website and reporting. Connect adds automated reminders, automatic payment collection, checklists, quote and invoice follow-ups, time and expense tracking and QuickBooks Online sync. Grow adds job costing, two-way SMS and custom workflow automations. The 14-day trial runs on Grow with no credit card.

The limits: the FAQ says annual plans are prepaid and non-refundable if you cancel mid-term, and Receptionist ($29/month), Pipeline ($49/month) and Marketing Suite ($99/month) are paid add-ons.

2. Housecall Pro – best for owner-operators who want users included

Housecall Pro bundles users into each tier. The Housecall Pro pricing page lists Basic at $59 a month billed annually or $79 monthly with 1 user, Essentials at $149 or $189 with 5 users, and Max at $299 or $329 with 8 users plus $35 a month per extra user.

Basic includes online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates, invoicing, payments with consumer financing and job costing. Essentials adds route grouping, flat-rate pricing, checklists, GPS tracking through technicians' phones, commissions and QuickBooks Online sync. Max adds route optimization with live traffic, recurring service plans, a proposal tool and open API access. Every plan includes the iOS and Android app, and the 14-day trial gives full Max access with no card.

The limit: route optimization and API access mean paying for the top tier.

3. ServiceM8 – best free and low-cost option

ServiceM8 charges by new jobs per month, not by user. The ServiceM8 pricing page lists Free at $0 (1 user, 30 jobs), Starter at $29 a month (50 jobs), Growing at $79 (150), Premium at $149 (500) and Premium Plus at $349 (1,500+), in USD, with unlimited users on every paid plan.

That suits teams with lots of office staff or seasonal helpers. Every plan includes job cards, scheduling, quotes, invoices, email and SMS, mobile payments and accounting integrations, and ServiceM8 calls its Android app "almost identical" to the iOS one. Custom electronic forms need Growing or higher, and the 14-day trial needs no card.

The limit is the job cap: go over it and you get 7 more days of normal use before you're prompted to upgrade, unless your allowance resets first.

4. ServiceTitan – best for larger residential and commercial contractors

ServiceTitan serves trades contractors, with residential and commercial offerings and trade pages from HVAC and plumbing to roofing. The ServiceTitan pricing page describes "per-technician pricing" and lists Starter, Essentials and The Works, each with "Request Pricing" and no figure.

Even Starter lists dispatching, scheduling, call booking, invoicing, a pricebook, mobile estimates, payroll management and advanced reporting, and ServiceTitan sells upgrades it calls Pro products (Dispatch Pro, Fleet Pro and others).

The limit: you can't price it without a demo, and the demo form asks whether you have at least one full-time office employee, which tells you who it's built for.

5. Workiz – best for built-in phone, messaging and AI add-ons

The Workiz pricing page lists Standard, Pro and Ultimate, each marked "Request pricing", with Genius Phone, Genius Answering and Genius Marketing as add-ons.

Every plan includes unlimited jobs, invoices and clients, a mobile app and a client portal. Standard adds online payments, 5 automations, subcontractor management and a QuickBooks integration. Pro adds multi-location management, roles and permissions, 10 automations, custom reports and AI lead and scheduling tools. Ultimate adds service plans, inventory, flat-rate pricing, multi-day jobs, equipment tracking, purchase orders, 30 automations and an open API.

The limit: no published prices, and roles and permissions start on Pro.

6. FieldEdge – best for HVAC, plumbing and electrical shops on QuickBooks

FieldEdge leads with HVAC, plumbing and electrical, and its plan table lists QuickBooks Online and Desktop integration. The FieldEdge pricing page shows Select, Premier and Elite, all "Request Pricing", and says price depends on factors such as your number of technicians or employees and the add-ons you need.

Select covers dispatching, scheduling, quotes, customer management and flat-rate pricing. Premier adds advanced dispatching, multi-option quotes and advanced service agreements. Elite adds outbound call recording, a proposal tool, two-way texting, warehouse inventory and a customer portal.

The limit: as with ServiceTitan, you need a demo for a number.

7. Service Fusion – best for flat pricing with unlimited users

Service Fusion charges one price per plan with unlimited users. The Service Fusion pricing page lists Starter at $245 a month ($208 billed annually), Plus at $382 ($325) and Pro at $627 ($533), with annual plans charged as one payment at sign-up and monthly plans carrying no contract.

Starter includes scheduling and dispatching, estimates, invoicing, payment processing, QuickBooks integration and text alerts. Plus adds job photos, inventory, job costing and integrated voice and text. Pro adds an open API, eSign, a customer web portal and progress billing. GPS fleet tracking is an add-on.

The limit: $245 a month is steep for one person. The math improves as the team grows, because the price doesn't change per user.

8. Salesforce Field Service – best for enterprises already on Salesforce

It suits teams already on Salesforce. The Salesforce Field Service pricing page lists Dispatcher and Technician at $175 per user per month each, Field Service Plus (Dispatcher, Technician, Service Cloud and Sales Cloud) at $230 and Agentforce 1 Field Service at $650, all billed annually, plus Contractor Plus at $80 per user per month or $32 per login.

Dispatcher covers AI scheduling and route optimization. Technician is the mobile app, and the pricing page says it lets technicians view and update work orders even when offline.

The limit: at these per-user rates, it fits organizations with a Salesforce team to configure it.

How to choose: do the pricing math first

The pricing models here produce very different bills for the same business. Per user, bundled into tiers (Jobber, Housecall Pro) is cheapest for a solo operator; count office staff, not just technicians. Per job (ServiceM8) suits many logins and moderate volume; plan for your busiest month. Flat with unlimited users (Service Fusion) is expensive at one user and comparatively cheap for a larger team. Per technician or enterprise per-user pricing (ServiceTitan, Salesforce): ask about implementation, not just licenses.

Then check, on the plan you'd actually buy, which accounting tool it syncs with; how the app behaves without signal (Salesforce's pricing page states offline support for Technician; ask the others); and contract terms, since Jobber's annual plan is prepaid and non-refundable while Service Fusion's monthly plans have no contract.

If your technicians maintain your own buildings and equipment rather than visiting customers, you want work order software instead. If crews put fuel and parts on company cards, expense management software is the usual companion purchase.

When building a custom job tracker makes sense

For most trades businesses, buy: technician apps, card payments, texting and accounting sync are a lot to rebuild and maintain. Building fits only when your workflow doesn't match any template, such as multi-stage inspections with your own scoring, or an internal job board and dispatch view while invoicing stays in your accounting tool. Greta.sh is an AI app builder that generates a full-stack web app (frontend, backend, database, authentication and deployment) from a plain-English description, with exportable code. The limits: it's a web app, not a native mobile app, there's no offline mode, and payments, SMS, GPS or accounting sync are yours to build and maintain. The free plan gives 5 credits a day to prototype; deployment starts on Starter ($5/month welcome offer, normally $20/month), and Database and team management are listed on Pro ($20/month welcome offer, normally $50/month), per Greta.sh pricing. Our guides to building a booking and scheduling app and to how ops teams replace spreadsheets with internal apps cover the build side.

Frequently asked questions

How much does field service management software cost?

As of October 2026, published entry prices run from $0 (ServiceM8 Free) and $29 a month billed annually (Jobber Core, one user) up to $245 a month (Service Fusion Starter, unlimited users). ServiceTitan, FieldEdge and Workiz don't publish prices, and Salesforce lists Dispatcher and Technician at $175 per user per month billed annually.

Is there free field service management software?

ServiceM8 has a free plan for one user and up to 30 new jobs a month. Jobber and Housecall Pro offer 14-day free trials with no credit card; neither pricing page lists a free plan.

What's the difference between field service management software and work order software?

Field service software is built around customers: booking, quoting, invoicing and getting paid. Work order software (a CMMS) is built around your own assets: preventive maintenance, equipment history and parts.

Can I build my own field service app?

Yes, if your workflow doesn't fit these products. An AI app builder like Greta.sh can generate a custom web app for dispatch or job tracking, but it isn't a native mobile app, and payments, messaging and accounting sync are yours to build.
