Your TV, Minus the Ads
Smart TV home screens have filled up with sponsored rows and tracking you never asked for. cleanyourtv is a free, open-source repo that lets Claude Code clean that up: give it your TV's model number, and it strips the ads and drops in a clean home screen with just your apps.
Give It Your Model, It Does the Rest
Clone the repo, open Claude Code inside it, paste the prompt and your TV model. It finds the set over Wi-Fi using ADB — no root needed — backs it up first, then disables the ad services, sponsored carousels and tracking packages, and installs a small Apple TV-style launcher as your home screen. The community-maintained debloat lists cover more than 170 TV models and are growing.
Reversible, But Know the Risks
It only disables packages rather than uninstalling them, and one command restores everything from the backup. Even so, read this before running it on the family TV:
- Android TV and Google TV only. It doesn't work on Samsung Tizen, LG webOS or Fire TV.
- Results are mixed. Some users have bricked their sets.
- Only disable packages you recognize, and proceed at your own risk.
What's in the Guide
What it disables and what replaces the stock launcher, how the Wi-Fi connection and backup work, which TVs are supported, the restore command, the risks, and a direct link to the repo.
